Hours before the biggest fight in his young mixed martial arts career, Jon "Bones" Jones and his trainers Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn subdued a robber in northern New Jersey.

The three were en route to a waterfall to meditate when they noticed a man breaking into a car and stealing items from the vehicle. They yelled at the man and he took off running, and all three ran after him. Jones caught up to him first, and according to Jackson in comments made to Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, Jones "foot swept" the man to get him to the ground.

Jackson then caught up to the two, and when the man tried to get back up, Jackson took him down with a double leg takedown. Jackson applied an armbar on the man, Winkeljohn went after the other arm to make sure the man didn't have a weapon and then shortly thereafter the police arrived to take the man into custody. Here's Jackson talking about the incident:

Jones meets Mauricio "Shogun" Rua tonight at UFC 128 in New Jersey for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

Penick's Analysis: This is another cool story of MMA training coming into play in a real life situation, and it's an even more interesting story with it being Jones who caught up to the guy and initially got him to the ground. I guess the lesson here is, if you're going to try to break into a car, don't do it within eyesight of a UFC fighter and his trainers.
