I was live last night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. for Bellator 39. Here are some quick notes from the post-event press conference:

Bjorn Rebney starts off by addressing Toby Imada's vicious knockout. Imada is OK, and has already been released from the hospital.

Rebney thanks Mohegan Sun, the commission, and MTV2. He then goes on to talk about Ben Saunders says that his cut from the UFC was a big gain for Bellator.

Saunders thanks Rebney and said his cut from UFC was depressing. He also said he does not like to wrestle much he prefers to stand and bang and that might have lead to his release. He is excited to be back and with Bellator, and Rebeney said he will be on TV in short order.

Rebney says Patricky Pitbull is the broth of Pratricio Pitbull, and his knee to the chin of Imada was one of the best they have seen.

Rick Hawn says he is glad he got the win over Lyman Good, but he wish it went a little differently. He most likely wanted a finish.

Lyman Good jokingly wonders why all the winners are on one side of the table and the losers on the other. Good mentions how he was sick and had two weeks off before the fight do to his illness. He says Hawn won and told Hawn to kick Ben Askren's ass.

Bjorn Rebney thanks Toby Imada who just returned from the hospital to join the press conference. Imada said "ish happens." He goes on to talk about how about how he is ready for what ever is next. Rebney says Bellator owes a lot to Imada for his spectacular inverted triangle that put Bellator on the map.

Eddie Alvarez said he as disappointed in his performance a bit, but he is glad he won. He said this is his first fight to go five rounds and he is happy to share this fight with Pat Curran.

Pat Curran says he is going to come back an learn from this fight.

I asked Eddie Alvarez why he seemed slightly timid in the middle rounds of his fight. He said he did not want to get too comfortable going straight forward at Curran because he had to watch out for that overhand right of his. Alvarez said he often gets knocked down and bounces back up when he presses forward to aggressively. He still wishes he finished the fight even though he was looking forward to going five rounds in a championship fight at some point.
